I have no way of verifying this, but if true 'tis very cool:
Venus orbits the Sun 13 times for every 8 Earth orbits. If you track the relative positions of Earth and Venus over an 8 year period, this is the resulting pattern.

Still can't exactly figure it out though... that's too tough for my brian. I just liked the pretty picture :)
Actually it does seem like however the image is done, its not accounting for the movement of the sun. Isn't our sun also hurling round the galactic core? Thus planets don't make ellipses, they make spirals?
