How do you make these? Do you work an a super low-res canvas, or is it the brush you use?

They're really fun to make and don't consume too much time. I use a 1px pencil brush and draw the outlines in black, then color in the details. I put the body and head on separate layer so it's easy to adjust. It's easier to do people with distinctive features, although Joanna Jed was probably the worst one I've done and I thought she would be easy. The good thing about low res sprites is people see what they want to see. It's awesome when they're easily recognizable, but they don't have to be perfect.
I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with if you decide to try some!
