So what's better music when you're sad? Sad music, or uplifting/feel better music?

For the latter, Bob Marley is always nice:

This might be my favorite song ever, Natural Mystic by Bob Marley. To me it has a very Taoist flavor, that All is One, beyond our understanding, and life when looked upon from this grander scale inevitably brings some peace and trust in Tao/God and washes away a lot of personal shit:

For sad songs where you can just dig being sad, I remember one of my best friends when I was younger was convinced this was the saddest song ever written. I disagree, but I suppose its still pretty fuckin sad, lol:

This song is sad as fuck too, but I have enjoyed it many a' time:

- Uplifting music!
Like sugar Ray, Smash Mouth, Shinedwon, Rocky or Superman theme! Duck tales song!
- I rent this space for advertising

Don't be selfish, preserve this world for the next generations.

I'll never long for what might have been
Regret won't waste my life again
I won't look back I'll fight to remain

What should I listen to if I'm not sad?

This tune's pretty cool

Happiness reigns supreme!

Protip: If shit makes you sad, don't dwell on it. If shit makes you happy, focus on it and remember it.

The secret to a happy life in a nutshell ladies and gentlemen. It really is that simple. You're welcome.

Winnson speaks much truth here, though its not always easy to make that switch

I like songs you can call upon to help us with that, to pump us up and give us courage! In this sense Edge is also on the money ('cept for the DuckTales, lol) - I have mentioned Rocky music before when trying to help loved ones out of a slump. I don't think any of them listened to me about it though :D

If we find a song that helped re-charge us up with positivity or faith, I think its a good tool to remember that feeling, to associate with that song so when we hear it again we can at least still get an echo of that feeling.

Here is a good one of this nature. I remember being really seriously pumped up a few times cranking this in the car etc feeling like I could take on anything. I discovered this tune on one of my wife's mix tapes when we first met

Rocky music is good too, legit lol :D

Was thinking about this the other day, I think this is why I love punk rock so much. It pumps me up but in a positive way. Gives me strength, faith, gratitude.

some punk is depressing I don't like that stuff much. I always wondered when my friend would trip on Moonlight Sonata, like; why would you want to willingly induce sadness? :D ironically he's one of the happiest dudes I've ever met
