BC for 4 days

Man I thought all this travelling was over lol

My favourite artist uncle passed away last week. He and his sons put together 1 last show/exhibition with his paintings, even though they knew he would be gone before. I’m gonna go see it, would regret I’m sure if I didn’t.

Gonna be great but tough. I took 2 pretty demanding work projects I need to get done while I’m there, will need to work nights to hit the deadlines. No sleep for me most of the time + planes + jet lag. Hope my laptop and tablet don’t malfunction lol

On the brighter side, if I manage my time well my brother said he might take me surfing :D

No surfing I'm afraid.

Had the chance but I took some work that I had to fight to get done while I was there, delivery deadline was the morning we were gonna go.

Still a wonderful few days, minus the sleep deprivation to hit my deadlines

The even for my late Uncle's art exhibition was in Chinatown, I didn't know this before. This is very cool because he used to live in Chinatown, I stayed at that place when I was a child, he was well liked and well-known there for some time.

We showed up early and had maybe the best chinese food I ever ate. 6 people got stuffed for about $120. Lazy Susan on the table spinning around as the dishes kept coming in, we all feasted was marvelous.

Famous little alleyway called Fan Tan Alley, where he used to live

There is still a gate in Fan Tan that my uncle made out of metal:

I remember as a kid staying there with my uncle the lights to this restaurant across the street blinking all night in the window. I remember thinking it was magical, I thought I was in some kind of comic book, lol (my Uncle was a very interesting man)

This was the door to his exhibition, up the steps:

Half way up the steps, keep going up (DB, can you read any of this?)

The show. Little 3 piece jazz band in the back. Full of characters

Some of his paintings. He never strove to be technically great, but his storytelling and real-life adventures to me really come through in his work

I bought this one, classic Island scene, which I love

I will never get tired of this 15-minute plane ride between the Island and Vancouver:

Great trip. RIP Uncle
