Yeah lots of people go to Vancouver, but so few go over to the Island. Maybe better like that, lol
FYI, I contacted 3 different BJJ clubs to enquire about possible training while I was in BC;
One in Nanaimo
One in Victoria (that I had trained at before)
One in Port Alberni
Victoria club, ZUMA, looked to be closed down completely, everything ripped out. Maybe they moved but I'm guessing covid tapped them out.
Both clubs in Nanaimo and Port Alberni said they were still not open yet, 'waiting to see what's going on'.
Or maybe they just didn't want drop ins from Ontario, lol.
Hope they are training in secret like we are out here
Islands were all very chill about the masks, except a few places. The ferries were super strict, guys running around as the cars waited in the lanes for the next ferry trying to police everyone who steps out of their vehicle. Several just ignored them, was interesting. I was surprised because we were all outside, but I guess we were parked on government real estate so they had to lick the covid masters boots and enforce shit.
Tofino, surprisingly, was the MOST paranoid. Every single store and restaurant was following mask rules to the gills, mandatory hand sanitizations, limited customers etc, they were real rude about it too, one restaurant owner really freaked out about it it was kinda scary. The whole town I guess decided to collectively agree to go all out, I think they hate and fear all the tourists but at the same time are completely dependant on them lol. That was crazy though, it was the worst covid-culture I've experienced yet.
The beaches around Tofino were fine though, just businesses in town were loco

How bad did the smoke get over on the island Mas?
On the worst day here you could actually see and taste it.

We saw it from Sproat Lake, then driving into Victoria it got thicker and thicker. Victoria had a visible haze over everything, but they said days prior while we were at the lake Victoria had it worse.
According to this map I found, it reached all the way to Quebec??

The skies finally cleared somewhat here today but those idiots that started the fires in Oregon and California cost us the last ten days or so of summer.
