RIP Dad

Postby Masato » Sat Apr 06, 2024 4:56 pm

Hey all

Sorry I've been away for a while. My father passed away on Monday, I just got back home from BC to be there for it.

He did the MAID (Medical Assistance in Dying), it was a booked event, in his own home with my brother and his wife, some close friends and I. We weren't sure if he would actually go through with it or not, but he did.
I watched it happen right in front of me.

He was terminal with Lewy Body disease, symptoms had gotten too far to manage, in his judgement.
My brother(and his wife) nursed him for years with it, all the way to the end like a champ.

What a week, man. lol
Was so interesting and bizarre in so many ways. Some ways it was easier than I anticipated, in other ways it was harder. You never really know until you get there I suppose. So happy to be back home with my family and friends again. I hadn't slept for basically the whole week I was there. Still shellshocked I think, but starting to feel better.

Happy to answer questions but I'll spare the details for now. Some good/funny stories. Just wanted to share/explain my absence from the forum. I consider some of the folks here friends in an internet sort of way.

Anyways Dad was super cool and was a big inspiration for me right until his last breath. Amazing guy.

I'll try to post more here again now that I'm getting back to my regular routines.

Peace 2 All

Thanks Raskal.

Yes, that idea/truth has given me much peace when it comes to fearing unknown futures.

May he rest within the stars and may he begun his journey into eternity, and may he get all the answers to the questions that mortality prevented him from getting. Peace? I'd rather it's clarity that he gets in all things and there is no thing like unanswered questions. May he get all the answers.

- I feel sorry Masato!

Now he is gonna live in the stars and look to guide you and your kids.

RIP. Hope you are well, Mas. I would call you a friend, but rather I see you as a brother, in an internet kind of way.
