Cornering a pro bout this evening (livestream?)

Postby penxv » Sat Apr 30, 2016 12:49 pm

I'm going to be cornering longtime pro Frank Caraballo tonight against Alexandre Bezerra. They both have some of their fights on youtube if anyone is interested in seeing what these guys look like fighting. They're both very good and the match should be exciting.

The event center at the Casino should have wifi. As long as it does, we'll be streaming his match from www.facebook.com/tank216. The fights are supposed to start at 7. Frank's match probably won't start until like 9:30 or 10 but we'll start the stream well before that. If you're on facebook I'm sure that everyone involved would appreciate it being spread as widely as possible.

I have some familiarity with the promoter and I don't think he would have a problem w/ Frank streaming his own fight... not that it should matter as these local promotions' contracts aren't nearly as onerous as the larger moneyed ones re: image rights. But there's still an element of uncertainty in the process in that the promoter doesn't know that we're doing it and we aren't going to ask.

He lost by tko. I'm bummed for him because he trained hard and it's tough to make money in mma. You have to have momentum to get people's attention and setbacks are costly.

That said, it was a really nice trip. His family is great. He mentioned before that he was thinking about retiring if he lost and I still don't know what he's going to do but I suspect he'll keep going. He has an entertaining style and can still make a run if things line up for him better.

And his opponent was a good sport and a high level competitor.
