A UFC 217 fight card which was already appealing just got another good one.

Stephen Thompson will meet Jorge Masvidal in a matchup of welterweight contenders on the Nov. 4 event at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani confirmed the matchup Thursday after Masvidal sent out a tweet hinting at the fight.

Thompson (13-2-1) is making his first appearance after a pair of shots at Tyron Woodley’s welterweight belt. The fighting nicknamed “Wonderboy” came within a whisker of winning the championship, going to a majority draw in their first matchup at UFC 205, then dropping a 48-47, 48-47, 47-47 decision to Woodley in the rematch at UFC 209. Prior to that, The South Carolina native won seven consecutive fights.

Masvidal (32-12), meanwhile, is also looking to get back into the win column. Masvidal lost a split decision las time out to Demian Maia at UFC 211. That came on the heels of a three-fight win streak for the American Top Team fighter.

UFC 217 will be headlined by Michael Bisping’s UFC middleweight title defense against returning former welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre, and also features the long awaited bantamweight title bout between undefeated champion Cody Garbrandt and former champion T.J. Dillashaw.
