The Bellator heavyweight tournament quarterfinal between Roy Nelson and Matt Mitrione will headline the company’s Feb. 16 card in Uncasville, Conn., the promotion officially announced on Tuesday.
Nelson (23-14) successfully debuted inside the Bellator cage in September, defeating Javy Ayala in a thrilling three-round contest. That was “Big Country’s" first bout outside the UFC since 2009, competing 19 times inside the Octagon.
Mitrione (12-5), who also competed on a season of UFC's reality show The Ultimate Fighter, is 3-0 with a trio of knockouts under the Bellator banner, capped off by a first-round victory over Fedor Emelianenko in June.
The Bellator heavyweight tournament officially starts on Jan. 20, when Quinton Jackson meets Chael Sonnen at Bellator 192.
After Nelson takes on Mitrione at Bellator 194, Emelianenko welcomes Frank Mir to the cage in April, and light heavyweight champion Ryan Bader faces Muhammad Lawal in May.
