at Bellator 193

With the Bellator heavyweight division set to crown a new champion next year, one of its brightest prospects will aim to stay on the winning path in February.
Undefeated wrestling specialist Tyrell Fortune (3-0) is set to face Joe “2 Gunz” Hernandez (4-2) at Bellator 193 on Jan. 26 at the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, Calif., officials confirmed with MMA Fighting on Thursday.
Fortune, 27, won national championships at both the junior college and Division II levels. Since making his MMA debut in 2016, he has parlayed his amateur success into a trio of wins, defeating his first two opponents by knockout and most recently outpointing Branko Busick at Bellator 178 this past April.
Though he now fights out of Arizona, Fortune got his start working with the Blackzilians team in Florida where he trained with UFC stars Rashad Evans and Anthony Johnson.
Hernandez began his pro career with four consecutive victories in California’s long-running Gladiator Challenge promotion. His last two outings have ended in TKO losses.
Bellator 193 will be headlined by a welterweight bout between Lorenz Larkin and Fernando Gonzalez.
