Demetrious Johnson, Eddie Alvarez bouts announced for Aug. 2 One Championship event

Demetrious Johnson and Eddie Alvarez will make their second promotional appearances at ONE Championship: Dawn of Heroes on Aug. 2 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.

ONE Championship announced the card via social media on Tuesday.

Super Series Muay Thai champion Jonathan Haggerty puts his flyweight title on the line against Rodtang Jitmuangnon in the main event of evening.

In the co-main event, Alvarez (29-7, 1 NC) will look to claim his first win under the new banner following a knockout loss in his debut to Timofey Nastyukhin. This time around, “The Underground King” faces former ONE lightweight champion, Eduard Folayang (21-7), who was dethroned in his last outing against Japanese submission ace, Shinya Aoki.

Johnson (28-3-1) has been pitted against Tatsumitsu Wada (21-10-2) in the flyweight World Grand Prix semifinal. Johnson advanced to the semis after a second-round submission in his promotional debut over Yuya Wakamatsu. Wada comes into the contest on the back of a unanimous decision win over Gustavo Balart.
