Documentary on Rasputin

Postby Masato » Tue Jun 27, 2017 5:55 pm

What a wild character

I am sure there are more opinions on the man than this documentary has chosen to portray, but a good starting point.

So surreal to think of such a person doing such weird shit at such a high level of power, then watch it all fall (Czars). Amazing story. Its a wonder its not re-told more

Haven't watched the doc yet but I do recall that Rasputin was regarded as a mystic type who could see the future, and there are some occult associations with him. He was supposed to be a great lover with an ample male appendage, which was later preserved in a jar and worshipped by Russian women to this day.

According to the documentary, he was a mystic/future-teller etc who claimed to be able to contact spirits etc. He became famous and caught the attention of Czar Nicholas' family. One of the royal children got sick, the only boy and heir to the Czar, and Rasputin healed him. This impressed the Czar's wife (mother of the boy) so much, that after that Rasputin had a permanent place at the side of the royal rulers of Russia with carte blanche to do as he pleased.

According to the documentary, Rasputin invented this theory that the highest spiritual attainment is somehow achieved through REPENTANCE. But how can one repent if he doesn't sin? So LOL Rasputin comes up with this idea of purposefully sinning in order to reap the benefits of repentance. So he would purposefully do all the nastiset shit he could think of, lots that were sexual in nature, then trip out afterwards in some kind of repentance ritual. Later they say he was telling people he was actually communing with 'Satan', and confessed later that he was not a holy man but a demon.

Of course that's just the take of this particular documentary. I'm sure there are other interpretations of his philosophies. I heard it suggested once that he was an infiltrator set up to take down the Czar from the inside. That theory goes that Rasputin actually poisoned the royal girl with something that only he had the antedote for. When he demanded to be let in to heal the girl, he knew exactly what to do to revive her and thus win the favor of the Czar. Cool story.

Here are the lyrics to that song. Pyramid theme is interesting on that set... was that just for that number or did every episode have them?

Rasputin
Boney M.

There lived a certain man in Russia long ago
He was big and strong, in his eyes a flaming glow
Most people looked at him with terror and with fear
But to Moscow chicks he was such a lovely dear
He could preach the bible like a preacher
Full of ecstasy and fire
But he also was the kind of teacher
Women would desire

Ra ra Rasputin
Lover of the Russian queen
There was a cat that really was gone
Ra ra Rasputin
Russia's greatest love machine
It was a shame how he carried on

He ruled the Russian land and never mind the czar
But the cassock he danced really wunderbar
In all affairs of state he was the man to please
But he was real great when he had a girl to squeeze
For the queen he was no wheeler dealer
Though she'd heard the things he'd done
She believed he was a holy healer
Who would heal her son

But when his drinking and lusting and his hunger
For power became known to more and more people,
The demands to do something about this outrageous
Man became louder and louder.

"This man's just got to go!" declared his enemies
But the ladies begged "don't you try to do it, please"
No doubt this Rasputin had lots of hidden charms
Though he was a brute they just fell into his arms
Then one night some men of higher standing
Set a trap, they're not to blame
"Come to visit us" they kept demanding
And he really came

Ra ra Rasputin
Lover of the Russian queen
They put some poison into his wine
Ra ra Rasputin
Russia's greatest love machine
He drank it all and he said "I feel fine"

Ra ra Rasputin
Lover of the Russian queen
They didn't quit, they wanted his head
Ra ra Rasputin
Russia's greatest love machine
And so they shot him till he was dead

Oh, those Russians

According to the documentary he survived to see the overthrow of the Czar. They even said at one point Rasputin even had to take over some charges and give orders because there was no one left or something. He died likely knowing that the Czar and all his power had been overthrown

What a crazy life.

I find the idea that Rasputin was an agent to infiltrate the Czar's reign to be compelling.

An occultist, obsessed with sexual deviance and ritual, corrupting the reigns of power and corrupting them with scandals of evil and debauchery? Where have we seen this before? lol
