Mrs. Masato is building an ART SCHOOL!

Postby Masato » Wed Aug 05, 2015 8:44 pm

^ hey Edge, thanks for asking

Its doing awesome. All her classes/workshops/camps are full

Right now she does summer camps mon-fri, and adult classes most evenings. Drop-in pottery Saturday mornings and the odd nirthday party or bridal shower etc if she gets it. She tries to take Sundays off

I haven't seen so little of her ever, she is working really hard. Taking a break though in 2 weeks, she's stoked for it.

I'm super proud of her, they say most businesses fail in the first 2 years, and if they don't they are taking a loss/not making profit also for at least 2 years. So far she has been making profit from the start, its doing great.

Here is a little stop-motion video they did for a March Break camp. They need to improve their tech skills but if you look at the work the kids did creating all the sets and models it is bloody fantastic. when I came and saw the giant backdrops etc I was blown away.

A rare shot of the Adult evening classes.

LADIES LOVE THIS CLASS! They laugh and joke and gossip all night. Friday nights they are allowed to bring wine, it gets crazy lol

My wife is learning a LOT just listening to these women talk. Many are older than her and talk of all kinds of different lives, tragedy, lessons, etc etc etc.

- Do you guys have cooking classes?
I know i asked several times in the thread, but cooking is a art.:D

Good to see that your school is doing ok, mabe someday you guys are gonna have capoeira classes too.

They have lots of plans for growth.

Not sure if they have the proper setup for a cooking class, but they are building some business relationships with nearby businesses, there are a few places they could possibly team up.

Our next goal is to build a multimedia lab in the basement with computers etc. If we can get enough funds to get that going I have been offered to manage it.

I'm gonna make an army of shoopers!
:D

^ no cooking classes, our space it pretty maxed out. There is a room in the basement that could make a cool media lab but we ain't got the funds to make that yet.

Here are a few pics of what's been going on. They have been doing great, filling up all their classes and camps, hosted a big Arts/Music Street Fest, things are growing nicely. Except for some fucked up Property Tax issue with the City they just found out about, lol. We'll see how that goes...

Anyways here are some pics;

We had Ashley MacIsaac play right behind the building at the summer ArtsFest. The whole festival was surrounding Mrs Masato's place, in the street in front and in the parking lot/streets behind. Was a great day for marketing, tons of people came through and loved the place

My wife is striving to host a Pottery Retreat in Brasil. She has it all planned out, just needs 6 people to sign up to make it work. She has 1 already, wish her luck:

The summer camp kids went on a trip to Tom Thompson's house/studio. This is where he would fuck off into the woods and live/paint. Very cool:

Hey all

Spring schedule is (mostly) up, they are rockin and rollin!

We are doing some digital classes now, ipad sketching, stop-motion, video-making etc

Tons of other shit, browse the classes and workshops.

I teach most of the 'Drawing for Comics and Animation' classes, and run the Wednesday Night LifeDrawing

So proud of the missus, she works hard but is totally doing it right, people love it here
