Should I do a cover for a political novel I haven't read?

Nice looking cover. Good CIA guys and bad ISIS guys belong in a fiction book, just not on the news.
Excellent work Masato, wow.
Did he tell what the deal is with the spelling of IInc with two i's?
Obviously it's a clever wordplay that is going over my head.

^ No, I don't know what that refers to.
Now I am looking at paperback covers all the time, recognizing that mine still has a sort of amateur look to it. The really great book covers somehow just look GREAT, and I'm not really sure why yet. They are usually quite simple, nothing fancy, but there is a line somewhere that when crossed, the cover just pops and looks pro, not homemade on photoshop.
I hope to do more so I can understand this better and hopefully figure out how to achieve that look.
If he starts selling better I may even offer to make a new one for free, as long as I get to design it 100% and don't have to follow his notes/direction. I would do this just for the practice, to study cover-art a little deeper and figure out the rules.

This cover however, is about as pro as you can get
I'd love to see a tribute to the old pulp fiction covers. That theme is cool.
Redneck, reminds of of The Fantastic New Adventures of What:
Update:
The guy had originally only hired me to make a cover image for an ONLINE book... so the image was intended to be seen small, lo-res while browsing e-books.
But then he said he was gonna print real books as well, and I really didn't think the image was up to snuff for it. So I re-did it to something more appropriate for print:
I would love to do more book covers... I am not 100% satisfied with it, there is a mystery of book covers I still haven't figured out; the best ones imo are often very simple but somehow they don't look like cheap photoshops and I can't quite figure out why not lol
I could have explored this more and really sunk my teeth into it but I need to be efficient/smart with my time and money so I gave myself a day to make a new one and whatever came out I would go with. He is happy with it. We still need to drop a barcode and some review quotes on the bottom of the back page
I wish him well, he's a nice guy. This is his first book (I think), dude is in his 70's and seen a lot of shit

Hey, I got a copy of the book in the mail!
Looks pretty good, I'm always scared I'll find some error but it looks OK. Author says he is getting all positive comments on the cover.
The author is a super interesting/experienced guy, I invited him to join the forum
Says his book got 'OBE'd (OBE: Overtaken By Events)/// feeling that the book's relevance has changed too significantly since Trump became POTUS.
That's a bitch, lol The same thing happened to my book but he put a lot more work into his
We are both writing sequels to compensate

- Those covers are cool. Ever thought about doing comic-book's?
