It was at this place
We were at capacity all day. I had at least 4 people yell in my face. I totally get why people hate the Irish.
Did security yesterday. First time in a while.

It's too bad there aren't security jobs around for weed vapor lounges. That would be a pretty stress free position I think.
The biggest problem would be bums scrounging roaches out of the ashtrays I bet.

I don't think that would help anything in this instance. It's like weird institutional Irish shit. They're lawless as hell.

I went into the Marc Emery lounge downtown once of few years back, a couple of times actually. The first time my friend lit up a cigarette and the hipster chicks descended on our table like a SWAT team in seconds. I gathered at the time it was the most excitement that place had seen in years. They probably still talk about it. We all had a chuckle and Jeff went downstairs to finish his smoke.
Thing is, you'd be inhaling pot fumes and smoke all day. Potheads swear it's harmless, healthy even, but I figure it'd be a lot like working in a bar in the 70s.

Most of the crowd was fine. I had to kick out one Jew for groping some woman but that was it.

I don't know if you'd like it any better or not but up here bouncers get to beat up the customers regularly. Actor Michael Moriarty (Irish descent?) of Bang The Drum Slowly and Law And Order fame came to experience this local cultural peculiarity first hand in his years living here as a skid row alcoholic. He was quoted in the Vancouver Sun to the effect that "in the States they stop serving you when they think you're had enough and they call you a cab. Here they ply you with all you can swallow and then the bouncers drag you outside and beat the shit out of you". It's been thus here for long as I can remember.

I didn't really care because I didn't see it but he was going to get his ass kicked otherwise (not by me).
Beating up the customers wouldn't make me feel any better. It would still be pretty meh.

I didn't think it would. At the same time anyone yelling in your face would be a complete non starter and everybody would know that.
Don't get me wrong, I think your system of restraint is a thousand times more civilized than ours in almost every respect.

Anyway St Patrick's come but once a year, I usually raise a toast to the Irish when I remember to. I'm mostly Welsh so I get where they're coming from most of the time, similar people and history with the English.
