Polish Guy Paints his Nightmares

Postby Masato » Fri Apr 28, 2017 3:21 pm

Hey all

I'm not usually a fan of dark or disturbing imagery, but this guy's work is really fantastic.

His name is Zdzisław Beksiński.

"I wish to paint in such a manner as if I were photographing dreams.”

I think he succeeded. Amazing work, enjoy:

I do however wonder who would actually buy his paintings to decorate a space.. (?) fantastic in a gallery but what other function could they serve?

Saw some of his original work at the Minnesota Institute of the Arts. It was at the Guillermo Del Toro exhibit.

^ hey SRBrant, always happy to see you round these parts :D

That's cool you go to Art Galleries, lots of people don't. How big are these in real life? Are they huge?

I learned my lesson a few years ago that paintings are totally different in real life. I never went to Art Galleries much but I have a friend who's crazy for that stuff and drags me out sometimes. Paintings I THOUGHT I'd seen 1000x before in books and Art School etc, but you really ain't seen it till you've actually seen it.
