I recently stumbled across a site dedicated to the folk traditions of Orkney, which preserved in amazing detail, very ancient customs into the early 20th century. I've read a ton of their material but I've only scratched the surface of this amazing site. I had to make a thread for their yule section though, its really quite amazing. Maybe I will bring a good old cow-skull-with-candle-eye to the next family christmas
