Some Illo's from a Children's Book I Made Recently

Postby Masato » Tue Nov 25, 2014 10:54 am

Hey all

Just finished my first gig doing children's book illustrations. Would love to do more, I think it is a very unique art form. Some children's books are just genius. The styles and format are endless. I have a few stories of my own I hope to illustrate one day.

This book was written by a kid maybe 11 or 12. His story won a contest somewhere, and so is getting a chance to have it published. He asked me to do the art for him and thought he was a really cool kid so I agreed. I tried to create a style that wasn't too time consuming but it still took way too long for what I was paid. Good experience though. I won't post the whole book but here are a few of my favourites.

These images are double-pages, so there will be the page-fold down the middle.

I'm not including the text (with respect to the author at this point), but you can guess where the text is supposed to go.
Font was a bold white in a hand-printed font with a strong drop shadow

Dude that is awesome
People say they all want the truth, but when they are confronted with a truth that disagrees with them, they balk at it as if it were an unwanted zombie apocalypse come to destroy civilization.
