I always prescribe a good dose of Rocky movies whenever I see one ready to face a challenge in life.
These cheesy movies definitely tap something inside us, its kind of strange. The cheesier the better, almost :)

That was what was so trippy about the UFC/PRIDE when they arrived - I had loved kung fu movies and JCVD flicks for years. The typical storyline is so captivating, it is definitely an archetypal myth in the collective unconscious imo (to use words from Jung or Campbell)
To see it become something real was such a mind-bender. Sakuraba and Big Nog were all the hero characters come to life. Wandy etc were the villains. So much fun
Kids today will never understand MMA from this perspective, nor will they ever dig watching old fighting movies, lol

- I love those movies, the old Samu Wong, Jackie Chan, Win Jin, Van Damme, Gary Daniels, Billy Blanks, Mark Dacascos, Mathias Hues as the villain.
