in animation school we were given plastic skulls, and with different colored plasticine we had to physically layer all the face muscles onto the skull, and create a likeness of ourselves with a specific expression. Tough exercise.

We also had a field trip (I didn't go) to a place where they actually cut up bodies, and they got to inspect and draw actual cut up cadavers in a formaldehyde smelling room lol

I saw the sketches, there were human heads with their faces peeled off for medical study etc
