Thanks, Olde Phuque imposter!

This all looks interesting but to be honest I sincerely don't really understand;

What REAL problems/dangers are avoided by doing these things?

What do folks like us have to hide?

Are you planning an assassination attempt, or something?

I understand the theoretical desire for something like this, privacy etc. But unless a person is very wealthy or highly influential, I don't see why anything would really be a danger or draw any serious attention.

Can you see laws coming down the pipe that may actually incriminate people for things they type on the net? I know there have been some cases of this but in general it doesn't seem to be rampant. I've been talking shit here for over a decade and no one has come to my door yet.

What sort of discussions would be so important as to justify such levels of encryption paranoia?
I'm genuinely curious.

I've known for many years that my iphone is being tracked, and everything I do on the net is being recorded etc. I use a gmail for work FFS, lol.
It's shitty, but I just sort of accepted this is the world today and decided to move on.

I would love to hear your motivations for setting up such a network or protecting your identity/privacy etc.

Maybe see you friday in the Hammer

I guess it depends how a person sees the future unfolding.

I tend to be more optimistic, I suspect all these controlling motherfuckers are on the precipice of failure. I don't think the World Government Big Brother dystopia is actually coming anymore.

Perhaps you think otherwise, and you are preparing for a different future.

Some I've been talking to recently have suggested the idea that there may be multiple timelines/dimensions that we have the power to move through and shift to, ie; if you really want a dystopian SkyNet type of world, you will get it.
I don't know if that's true but it's interesting to me.

I also think a lot about fear, and have come to many conclusions that while preparing for the future is smart, acting too much on fear-based thoughts and projections, is not. Paranoia can be a motherfucker. LOVE > FEAR. It may sound cliche but I think it has a lot of power and truth in it.

Questions like: "Are you planning an assassination attempt?" is the same sort of loaded questions that politicians use when attacking privacy as though there is some criminal intent to wanting their experience on the web to be surveillance-free.

It's not about whether laws are coming down the pipeline. Laws or no laws, mass surveillance has been underway for some time now, probably since the late 90's, possibly earlier with the advent of global communication systems.

This is not about hiding anything. This is about putting forth some effort to thwart mass surveillance and serious infringements on our privacy. If Canada Post made it known they were opening everyone's mail to read it and sell to third parties and share with intelligence agencies, police, governments, etc., do you think people would feel comfortable using it anymore? Some would. But a lot of us would probably go with a private courier going forward.

If you've known for many years that you are under surveillance and being monitored while also having your data put onto the open market, why have you never done anything about it? Are you resigned to the violations or...? Do you think there is nothing that could be done? It is VERY easy these days to do basic things that thwart surveillance. Is it just that you were never exposed to them? Perhaps you never knew anyone who was knowledgeable or who cared about their privacy in this respect.

All things considered, the establishment mafia that works in partnership with big tech have been trying hard for years to keep their digital panopticon intact and undisturbed. That means they've had to lie, defame, and black-hole as much content as possible about privacy and counter-surveillance. I'd say big tech cartels are now experiencing an exodus of users migrating away from their spyware google/apple duopoly, and to linux and other free and open source models that respect user privacy and freedom.

I agree with LOVE > FEAR, and that's why myself and many other hackers and privacy advocates feel empowered enough to learn about the many colorful solutions we have before us to strike at the root of technocratic slavery. This means trying to educate people and shake them out of their apathy. I don't really resonate with the new ageism about "if you believe you live in x reality then you will get x reality"... I wonder if some of the men, women, or children of Gaza whose loved ones are being shredded into the dirt believe that if they believe in the reality that Gaza is not a killing field, but a peaceful place, then peace will appear? We need to deal with the reality before us, not cower from it behind poetic illusions of other dimensions and flights of fancy.

The reality is that we and our loved ones, and the next generation will pay for our apathy and ennui in the face of authoritarianism in the form of mass surveillance and rampant data collection. No paranoia needed to take simple steps today to defend against what could very well be the open-air prison of tomorrow. The effort we put forth today will determine what our world will resemble tomorrow.

Great posts

This discussion feels like deja vu, lol as if we already had it somewhere over a few pints :D

You are not wrong, I admire what you are doing.

In the end I think it just comes down to individual priorities and motivations. There are so many things we 'should' and 'could' be doing, but no man can possibly be doing all of them. For every day we spend doing something deemed valuable, we are neglecting something that someone else deems valuable. Both think the other is missing out, lol Both are right.

If we look at the world as a war, the agendas from the powers that be unfolding, and the possible nightmare of them succeeding, there are infinite fronts from which it needs to be fought. Again, each needs to feel personally compelled which ones they feel they can best get involved in. We can't fight them all.

I suck at tech, and am feeling better the less I am on phone and thinking about online stuff. Hence my late reply here, lol
But that's just me. I think whatever contributions I can offer to the fight are likely in other areas.

As far as Love VS Fear and 'Reality x' theories, I agree there is an objective reality that we cannot change or shift (Gaza, etc). However I do think it's clear that what we choose to spend our ATTENTION on, does greatly shape the lives we live, and our experience. It's the eyes through which we see the world. One person may see every moment through paranoid eyes, always seeing what's wrong with the world, always envisioning a dystopian future. Another may see through loving eyes, always seeing the beauty in the world, always envisioning a brighter future and faith in God's plan etc.

BOTH may be correct. But each will have vastly different life experiences. In a way, is this not 'Reality X'? Are they not in essence literally living in 2 different realities?
It's kind of trippy. On a macro level it's all bullshit, but on an individual consciousness/life level, I think its true.

Anyways don't take offense if I don't get into the crypto hacking stuff. I think it's awesome and important and will cheer you on, and if/when shit hits the fan I will be happy to know someone who knows what the fuck to do lol. I just have other priorities that are at the forefront of my mind these days. We all have to choose what is most important to do with time we are given, like Gandalf says :D There is no right answer for everyone, each must seek for themselves imo, we all must do our part.

Anyways enough yakking
It was good to see you bro. Wishing you and your lovely wife and kids well, always. Let's get together soon, you are welcome at my place anytime

Peace and Love, fake Olde Phuque!
