A lot of it has to do with social subversion through the liberal media. You also have to realize that WW2 created a whole generation of reactionary leftists. The good news is more and more people are starting to see through the bullshit, and the internet gives people a platform to overcome social pressures to conform to the mainstream views, and by mainstream I mean the ones that CNN puts on TV.
