near where I live. I heard the boom. They're saying that nobody was hurt.
Big explosion...
What kind of building was it?
What is the suspected cause of the explosion?

1000 gallon propane tank. It was right by a construction site where American Greetings is putting in offices.
It's kind of a commercial/residential area. Theater, bookstore, restaurants, retail stores etc.

Yikes. Probably not the ideal location to store such a large tank of propane.
el rey del mambo
Probably not a good location to store any size tank of propane if they're going to get lit on fire like that.

I'm not sure what ignited the tank... If there was a leak or whatever. Obviously, somebody fucked up.
Amazing that no one was hurt. That was a damn big boom.

"However, the State Fire Marshal's Office could not determine exactly what caused a propane tank at the site to burst into flames March 10, office spokesman Bill Krugh said Monday.
The office handed its investigation over to the property's insurance company March 22, Krugh said.
A call Monday to the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration, who also opened an investigation into the fire, was not immediately returned.
No one was injured in the blast shortly before 11 a.m. at the construction site for the American Greetings Creative Studios at 189 Crocker Park Boulevard."
