R.I.P Rama XI
Passed yesterday. Thailand isin for some tumultuous times. Hope Benwahwah is doing alright, and looking forward to meeting up with Diet Butcher tonight.
All MT fights are cancelled and forbidden for the next month. RIP Bomibol.
My sister in law showed me a picture of the new king... his son? How does that work?
In the picture he looked like a sleazebag, lol wife beater, jeans and tattoos up his arm
I can't find the pic now. Did I have it wrong? Who is the new king now?
Is Thailand a full-on monarchy then? Or is it more traditional/symbolic? What is the king's relationship with politics there?
Kind of cool that they stopped all the MT fights for it. Monarchies are weird to me, I grew up thinking it was a joke but some countries it is still very real. I was in Morocco last year they have a king and from what I saw he rules the whole fuckin land

Yes, his son is unpopular with the masses. We are not sure how this will affect things. Thailand is ruled by a military junta but the king is a figurehead respected by all. His word isn't law but it carries a lot of weight.
It was very subdued here in Chiang Mai over the weekend. Lots of bars were closed as there has been a ban on live music and for the last few days places haven't sold alcohol.
The people here are very sad about it. Some of the Thai women at the school I was attending were in tears on Thursday evening. On Friday almost all the Thai people I saw were dressed in black as a mark of respect. It is very obvious that they loved the King dearly. From what I have heard the love he got was well earned. He helped massively with the development of the poorer regions.

Bars were still open near where I was staying. Although, no loud music, and no partying on the street. The sidewalk bars retreated into the back alleys. You can still get booze, but just not out in the open.
I don't want to expound too much. Son has the power and society shall remain stable in the short term.
Id just like to point out how utterly pathetic this all is, ill leave it at that due to some members being there now but I assume you all have the fucking intelligence to follow what Im saying here.
