Artistic interest, aspirations, objetives, dreams.

Postby Edge Guerrero » Mon Jun 02, 2014 8:05 pm

- You guys have artistic aspirations, like drawing a comic-book, writing a book, a script, a video-game, cartoon-series?
Share you'r dream, ideia, even if you don't pretend to go ahead with them.

Mine is that i wanted to create my action-figures with storys, and do a cartoon of the character i created.
I think i even asked on sherdog on how do people create those cool bootleg MOTU action figures:

You should do it Edge, maybe we could do it as a collab. We are pretty good at shoop comics right. Maybe after we could translate it into our language.

As for my own artistic aspirations, I dont have any at the moment, besides contributing to this forum in ways that are sometimes artsy.

AWESOME thread idea, Edge!
I think many people have some kind of creative dream(s), but we are conditioned not to go for it. We should encourage each other

I would like to know more about your vision:

- Are you imagining like a stop-motion type animation?

-What the the 'character I created'?

...have you seen 'Robot Chicken'? Or are you imagining a more refined storyline?

btw, the figures that first pic are very cool lookin

- Traditional animation, it's my favorite type.
The character is a guy, that is good hearted, and is always followed by a huge wolf, this wolf is his concience, he does everything to keep the wolf safe, but whem the wolf is hurt, he gets in a rampage.
He acts as a type of ecoterrorist, but is misuderstood, he can't compreend the politics of the man world.

Yeah those figures are very cool!

Edge, your passion for this genre is too deep/genuine to not pursue it in some way.

Have you thought about writing a pilot episode script, or treatment for the idea? I have a few contacts in the Canadian animation field (nothing too big but some friends)... Get some screenwriting software and punch out the story for Episode 1! I would love to help if you wanna brainstorm, I really like the game of structuring a good story.

I actually got to pitch an idea once to some execs for an animated feature - all the creatively-minded people loved it but the business people shut it down, said it was too risky/different (it was an animated movie for teens and up - not for kids)

Personally I am really frustrated that the animation world in the west is all about family/G-rated movies. I see so much potential to push the medium beyond this and make some really badass imaginative movies, but NO ONE seems to want to invest in this. So weird because in Japan for instance it is a huge market. Why no one has tried to open it up here? What are ALL animated features in the west about fuzzy animals that talk and sing? lol

- I did draws whem i was a teenage, and did some storys, but after that i kind of let go, the closest to working was doing the character in WWE smackdown vs Raw series.
After that, i tought in investing, that's whem i discovered about those custom action figures, a friend of mine told-me about them.

Thank you for the ofert Masato, but with studys, i keep letting this for late, i would like to invest time.

- The business people frouned upon Rocky too.
And i don't get how people that are business savy can aprove ideas like Batman and Robin 1997, or read how awful were the ideas for the Daredevil movie with Ben Aflek.

- I was young whem i got the ideia of the character, if you see my idea is a Captain Planet with steroids, i was a kid, i always liked animals. and watching the old free Willy cartoon, i never got why they didn't beat the villain.:)

You should work on your animation Masato.

And the others members should post they ideas, there's 76 members of this roster.

^ Edge I really hope you do something with this vision.

Even if it doesn't get made as a hit show, even if it doesn't go anywhere (and who know, maybe it will!)... it is my growing belief that a major essence of the human condition is the mystery of our creative energy. Our culture does not take it seriously, but I find that however crazy our creative ideas may be (and they are usually crazy/un-marketable etc), just the mere act acknowledging it and giving it some of our attention somehow brings meaning to life and brings our understanding of ourselves into better focus.

Its not always the end product but the act of DOING that is important. Often a vision like this is just a training ground for ideas yet unseen that we're not ready for. Just giving them a shot, writing a pilot script, making a fake movie poster, etc - it makes the creative vision a little bit closer into our 3d reality.

The more we do these things, even the small ones, the more we wake up to ourselves and the universe. If you have an idea start knockin something out. Even a typed treatment, 1-2 pages, whatever. Just start the momentum, get the ball rolling.

We have no idea where it will go, but its our own unique energy that is propelling it... and if we love/trust ourselves, then whatever it creates must be going in a good direction.

I have no idea where I'm going with video fx, but i know i like doing it and the creative freedom. A nice quote i heard yesterday that i kinda realized i already did and works nice, is if yourre not sure then just do it at 20 percent effort. Masato is super correct about the act of just doing something. Whatever you can do at the time might not seem big, but if it is connected to your highest excitement then it will most likely lead you to the next step or help you down the line without you realizing it. I suggest googling best animation programs for beginner animators or something

Edge, you might want to try something like this for the action figures:
