Hey all
So I'm out tonight for 3 weeks. Going to Brazil to see some of Mrs Masato's family, and also taking off for a 2-week roadtrip up the northeast coast.
Mrs Masato's family are near Sao Paulo, but then we fly to Salvador for the roadtrip. We will rent a car and go south for a bit, then back up to start north all the way to a little town north of Natal.
We have little places booked in 9 different towns along the way.
Fly back from Natal.
Super stoked, I still can't believe its real lol
So much shit still to do lol
We have to prove 'official' negative covid tests to get into the country Can you believe that?
This is the first covid anything that I caved into, I'm pissed lol
Thanks Lula
Anyways, nobody is in charge of the place when I'm gone, it will be pure Anarchy I hope you can all handle it lol
See you all May 16
Brazil Roadtrip 2023
Just got the covid tests. All negative thank God
Found a place that doesn't do the brain rape test
I've been really nervous about this. One false positive could have foiled the whole trip.
Very happy about it
Plane is supposed to take off 11pm

hope the trip has gone well and look forward to hearing some details!
Back home, still alive and well.
Here are some pics, I will update as I have time
Mrs Masato's family lives in Campinas so we stayed there for a bit to visit. Then caught a plane to SALVADOR
Hotel view in Salvador.
We stashed our luggage at the hotel in Salvador, and took an overnight bag for 1 night south of Salvador to a little island where there are no cars called Morro de Sao Paulo. Actually zero cars, only walking on the whole island
Boat leaving Salvador to the island:
Morro de Sao Paulo island:
view from our pousada balcony:
streets on the island:
some of the beaches:
streets at night - kids (and adults) doing capoeira
We ate at this place. In the right corner you can see a music duo; guy with a guitar and a woman singing. They were pretty good
The next morning I woke up early, and to not wake the Mrs or the kids I go for a walk.
I randomly followed a street upwards and it led me to a little trail
it took me past a little cemetery:
The trail just kept going up, and eventually ended up at what I think is the highest point on the island. A fantastic view.
I considered it pretty lucky to have found it like that.
Then we packed up and caught a boat back to Salvador.
They said the boat in was smooth but the way back the boat is against the waves or something, and they warned us that most people get sick. Mrs Masato sat at the back and indeed got totally sick.
I went to the front, and had the best fuckin time, lol. I stood up against the front of the boat and could see all the waves coming as we went up and down over them. It felt like snowboarding, anticipating the contours of the terrain in front, and I guess my brain found it familiar and so I didn't get sick at all.
I got absolutely soaked lol, but it was an awesome ride , I saw double rainbows and everything
Anyways then we went back to the same Hotel in Salvador.
Salvador at night:
Next day we get the renal car and start driving north up the coast.
I will post another batch soon.
Glad to be back. Hope everyone is well
