Well, the knees were legal and Vov won by TKO.

The knees were actually illegal, but nobody really knew that at the time. Nobody had tried to punish a takedown like that.

Ya, there is no reason they shouldnt be legal and Im pretty sure they became legal because of that fight. I can also see the argument that its not fair to Kerr if he wasnt warned it was possible. However, judging from the fact that Igor, Bas, the ref and all the officials assumed it was legal, you could say he should have intuited it.

Tough one for Kerr. I'm pretty sure he sees it as a defeat as well.

That is one of the real defining oldschool PRIDE fights.

It was clearly illegal, but every time I watch it I get so pumped up thinking how awesome Igor is I just kind of let it slide lol

I try to justify it by considering that at the time, Kerr was an absolute wrecking machine, feared by all. Igor was much smaller, and PRIDE was still pretty raw. Igor was fighting for his life, he just went full tilt. A real FIGHT.

Igor = the better fighter.

Still illegal though lol

I was never really that impressed with Kerr to be honest... he busted up some Vale tudo guys in the pioneer days but folded pretty fast when it got tough
