A thread for boxing

Postby Luigi » Sat Nov 19, 2016 8:26 pm

One of the coolest fights is tonight! Andre Ward vs Sergei Kovalev. The last great American champion vs the up and coming Russian champion. Its gonna be Rocky vs Drago in real life!

Also, Shannon the Cannon Briggs will be a guest on JRE soon, which should be awesome lol

- Man finally i could enter thread again.

- The thing is that boxing lost a lot of viewers because today people have more option to watch other sports, the same happened to other sports too. To many options on tv`s today. And we have to accept that some people don`t like to watch boxing, mma or combats sports in general.

* Spoilers *

I had Kovalev up 1 point after round 10. The last two rounds were tough to score because there was a lot of wrestling.

Those old fights remind me of Lethwei the way the ruthlessly attack as soon as they get up and keep on counting and never using a referee TKO. A true fight to the end.

Some updates I wrote on the old site before noticing the new one:

-Khalid Yafai defeated Luis Concepcion to get the WBA 115 title

-I just found out about this crazy prospect from Kazakhstan, Sergei "Samurai" Lipinets. He is a former kickboxing world champion(WAKO style, i.e. no lowkicks) who transitioned to boxing and has been destroying guys. He fought a guy with over 30 fights in his debut and won. In his 4th fight he fought a guy who was 22-4 and he KO'd him. In his 8th fight he fought a guy who was 23-0 and beat him. Just recently he got a world title eliminator match and knocked the guy out. In his next fight, which will be his 12th, he will fight the IBF super LW champion, Julius Indongo from Namibia, who is 35-2. A date hasn't been set for it yet. It will be crazy if he wins!
