I did not watch the whole thing yet - I tried to watch the next day but was pressed for time and when I saw it was a 25-minute vid I figured it went the distance and kind of skipped ahead.

Nate said he thought he has 3 rounds.

I also noticed one of the judges called it a draw. Does that mean he would have scored a 10-8 round somewhere? Is it on a 10-point must system?

Would be curious how you all scored the fight too. I have to say Conor looked fresh at the post-fight stuff while Nate's face was busted up badly

It was a really fun fight that went back and forth, Round 1 was all Conor, but how often do we really see 10-8 rounds in the UFC ....Conor won the round but did not 2006 Pride Final Conflict Absolutely dominate enough to make it a 10-8.

I just fired up the DVR and i'm about to watch the fight again, I'll give you my break down within the next 1/2 hour .....

5min - 4min
Conor lands 5 significant leg kicks to Nate's lead right leg.


4min - 3min
Nate checks his first kick of the fight, spams a variety of kicks at Conor not to do damage but to keep the distance, lands a nice right kick to conor's lead inside thigh.
3:28 - Conor lands a heavy right to the body followed by a hard left hook to the back of Nate's ear. Conor lands his 6th significant let kick to Nate's lead right leg.
3:22 - Nate lunges in with a right jab but is countered with a quick hard straight left from Conor that lands flush on Nate's jaw, dropping Nate to the canvas.
Conor lands the 7th (sig-kick 2 Nate's L/R Leg)

3min - 2min
Nate gets a Stockton Slap in as the fight enters the 3min mark:
Conor lands another hard Right Hook to the Body followed by his 8th (sig-kick 2 L/R Leg)
2:43 - Nate finally hands a sigificant strike ...thew his patented 1-2, missed with the right but left straight lands hard on Conors temple.
2:22 - Conor lands 8th (sig-kick 2 Nate's L/R Leg)
2:02 - Nate lands a nice overhand left on Conor.
2:01 - Nate lands the stockton slap - Conor counters with a hard straight left to Nate's cheek.

1:58 - Conor lands a brutal overhand left that lands flush and rocks Nate, very hard shot.
1:45 - Conor lands 9th (sig-kick 2 Nate's L/R Leg)
1:33 - Conor slips Nate's jab and lands a beautiful right hook to the body follows with the left overhand hook but does not land the hook.

1:09 - Nate goes for his Stockton Slap to set up his left straight but gets countered hard with a vicious left straight from Conor that lands on Nate's temple.

Thoughts on Round 1, Conor landed 13 significant leg kicks to Nate's lead leg, @ 3:38, 3:22
1:58 and :09 McGregor was able to land some very hard shots that rocked and wobbled Nate here in Round 1.

Compare that to Nate's offense in the 1st round where his only real hard significant strike he landed was at 2:43 with his hard straight left.

I love leg kicks and every real hardcore fan knows how much of a role they play in a fight. We look no further then Shogun Vs. Machida 1, here is another similar example of leg kicks key to winning a fight.

BUT!! this is the UFC ...and the UFC judges are corrupt and or incompetent with no real consistency in their judging criteria.







All Conor in Round 1, we rarely see a 10-8 and I just don't feel it was enough of a dominating output to give it a 10-8 .....so I'm going:

Crazy Round where we saw Conor come out on fire picking apart Nate, Conor appears to gas and fall apart around the 1 minute 30 second mark where Nate takes over and dominates till the end of the round.

I'd give this round a 10-10 even Round.
