I'm guessing public transit gets shut down pretty soon. Bus and subway unions are going to freak if anyone gets sick, or even as the infected numbers increase locally.

I am wondering how many of these closures/cancellations are really about safety, vs how much is done because of potential liability/legal fears. Regardless, do as you're told I guess.

It sets a huge precedent imo, every time governments choose to declare an emergency the whole world shuts down and self-isolates. Seems a pretty powerful weapon to wield imo, you can stop almost any industry, and/or starve out any country economically at will, fuck up entire economies, sending thousands of people into unemployment and bankruptcy etc, and the people will support it.

Watching my first UFC in years right now. LOL at UFC trying to run in the pandemic. The building is empty though, the local Brazilian government told greasy money grubbing scumbag Dana no crowd. :D

Me an Canuckster and a friend went to see a live MMA/Pankration event last weekend, and there was some controversy because if a fighter started bleeding they would constantly stop the fight and try to stop the bleeding.

The main event was a buddy of Canuckster, some crazy guy from Albania. There were a whole bunch of Albanians in the crowd all singing and waving their flags lol was nuts but then in the main event their boy got a bloody nose - that's it, just a bloody nose - and they stopped the fight like 4 times, obsessively wiping any blood down everywhere.
Totally ruined the fight.

The only theory I've heard so far to explain the odd behaviour at an MMA show would be some last minute legal stipulation about Coronavirus. Not saying its so but you mentioned the empty UFC card just reminded me.

The UFC card with no crowd must have been weird. I think of the fighters and corners etc it must have had an interesting vibe for a fight.

They closed all bars and restaurants starting at 9 tonight. For 2 weeks at least. They're going to put a lot of people out of work. It's martial law, in essence.

#Cuba has an anti-viral #Heberon (Interferon Alpha 2b) which is being used to successfully treat the #coronavirus - it is a therapeutic not a vaccine - a joint venture in #China is producing an inhalable version, including production for export.

I haven't stopped going to Jits. Everything else is closed so I only go out for rolls these days. Bought a yoga mat so I can take a kettlebell up to my rooftop and swing it around a bit, lol
