Benwahwah, tell us about BREXIT

Postby Masato » Tue Jun 28, 2016 9:57 pm

What is the mood like?

What differing opinions have you encountered?

What changes have you seen?

How do YOU see it?

etc etc etc

I can see this Brexit thing from so many angles, I honestly don't have a clue where to begin trying to know what's what. Is Britain now a rogue state from the NWO? Is this a deliberate move on the Grand Chessboard? Will it strike a blow to gloablism, and inspire a new wave of more local, nationalistic identities? Will it improve or injure the British economy? What effect does it have on the remaining EU nations?

Would love to hear from some insider eyes...

thx bro

Ok here is my two tupons worth

What is the mood like?
This depends who you talk to! Remain are largely annoyed, most think that a large majority of uneducated racist troglodytes just took them out of the EU. They believe they are the rational, intelligent voters and have been let down by there country men. The leave are happy , as they won the vote and the country is on its way out of the EU. Here in Scotland where the vote was almost 70% to remain, there is alot of calls for a second referendum for independence, the argument being the Scots voted to stay and where tackin out against there democratic will.

in some cities in England the mentality was " if your rich you vote remain , if your poor you vote leave" , The system has left behind the poor, they are now an uneducated , underprivileged mass and they voted!! and thats where the result cames from this large swaith of England. In ameraica the poor are essentially a prison work force or left to their own devices with no media coverage, job prospects, investment in thee communities etc , the same here. politicians at every level only care about the middle classes and they have become divorced from the real world in which the majority live.

What differing opinions have you encountered?
This is a fucking huge question. Leave and remain voters cross every imaginable political, educational, religious, wealth , class etc , they must do as there were only two options on the table. The media (depending on which papers you subscribe to ) are tarnishing Leave as stupid racists (don't get me wrong there are alot of leave knuckle draggers, but it is the broken system that creates them!) and the remain as liberal lefties scared of change.

What changes have you seen?
The pound crashing, an increase in political engagement, lots of stupid statements, some great memes, lots of sheep. Its almost like connor mgregor fighting in the UFC, you don't here these folk talking about MMA ever!! then he fights and every one is a ten year practicing expert, but to you a passionate MMA fan , you see the shit the spout and automatically think you no nothing of MMA. Thats what I am seeing lots of, folk engaging in politics basing there opinions of the back of match box.

How do YOU see it?
I voted leave. The system is broke, the only way to herald a new system is to acknowledge that the current one does not work for the poor. Its a system run by corporate elites for the betterment of the wealthy. I am radical as in, I wan't independence from Westminster and independence from Brussels - However the main Scottish independence parties want only a divorce from Westminster which in my mind does not compute.

Will it improve or injure the British economy?
The economy will recover for sure, but we need to regain a sense of reality. We are a small island, we can't out manufacture as we have limited resources etc. We need to get into innovation and science shit. But we can defo build our economy up again.

What effect does it have on the remaining EU nations?
It has opened a sluce gate, that it is possible to leave. The EU will regroup and become a stronger entity to protect its self. here comes EU military etc and more.

Will it strike a blow to gloablism, and inspire a new wave of more local, nationalistic identities?
TTIP, the Canadaian EU trade deal etc are now fucked. Which is good. They favor large corporations , they favour regulations. Now heavily regulated industry is good but big corporations drive for it because startups cant afford it. My hot sauce came a cropper due to this. Hopefully in an independent Scotland this is something that can be brought to the table for discussion and solution.

Is this a deliberate move on the Grand Chessboard?
Not deliberate.

Is Britain now a rogue state from the NWO?
hahahah

Hey man, sorry for not responding before now. Work has been really busy and I've only been keeping an eye on the Anarchy Forum. The only reason I came to the Rebel Alliance this evening was to start a thread on Brexit. Hahahaha. You should have PM'ed or emailed me to let me know you'd created the thread. :)

As you could probably guess I was definitely a Remain voter, but my younger brother voted to leave and had reasoned things out, for him it was economical and not really to do with immigration. So while I still heartily disagree with his thinking I can understand a 'sane' Brexiter's opinion.

What is the mood like?

Living in London and have very liberal minded socialist friends the last week and a half has been a mixture of horror and disbelief. I have a couple of my old Uni tutors as friends on Facebook and they have definitely been the most vehemently against it.

The people who voted for Brexit have been quite smug really. I can't say that I blame them really but it does piss me off.

Perhaps the most worrying thing is the rise in racist outbursts. The Brexit vote has given a massive confidence boost to a lot of people that had been closet racists. The has been a big factor in the news, at least from what I've seen.

What differing opinions have you encountered?

Here in London I have mainly encountered Remain voters. However I have encountered quite a few Leave voters as well. The main thing that struck me in the lead up to the referendum was that the Leave voters didn't really have any ideas on how to take things forward if we did vote for a Brexit. Now it is confirmed that the leaders of the Brexit campaign didn't have a clue either.

What changes have you seen?

The pound has significantly dropped against other currencies. As of today my first month in Thailand is probably going to cost about £60-£100 more than it would have. After that though I guess I'll be a little richer. :)

As I said before racism has become more of a problem. I know people that it has actually affected. The only brush of it I've seen is two women at the swimming pool I go to talking to each other and saying that they could finally fly their flags with pride. They then wondered whether they should fly the Union Flag or the England flag. I just thought to myself that they should fly the confederate flag and have done with it.

Possibly the most significant change is the turmoil that we have seen in the Labour and Conservative parties. The two main parties have been rocked by this vote. Their confidence has taken a major kicking and they are scrambling to try and come back from this.

How do YOU see it?

The most important thing that I have taken away from this vote is just how influential emotions are in this election. The election wasn't won on facts and figures, it was won on playing into people's fears. Both camps tried to appeal with fear tactics and it has become obvious that people were more afraid of foreigners than losing a bit of money.

The complete lack of an exit strategy on either side has been worrying as well. In fact it has now become obvious that the Brexit campaign lied consistently. They have now backed down from all of their pledges which leads us to...

The future

For all intents and purposes I think that apart from a recession nothing is going to significantly change in the UK. I think that all the things that the Brexit campaign were speaking against will remain in play, such as the free movement of Europeans, contributions to the EU on the same scale if not higher, and further cuts to public services. If Brexit goes ahead (which some columnists think won't actually happen) then all we will successfully have done is to remove ourselves from the decision making table.

I also think that politics is going to take a turn for the worse. There is going to be less focus on facts and a greater focus in telling people what they want to hear, and making an emotional connection with people rather than one of logic. I can honestly see our politics heading quickly towards the American system.

Thanks for the insights, Ben

This is really interesting to me, really can't make sense of why this went down like that, who benefits, what power groups exactly are being played here

I saw a video once explaining how the EU is basically un-democratic, that the leaders were all un-elected, and no one knows who the fuck any of them are, lol. Major seats of power basically appointed from insider elites. The argument went that to leave the EU is to gain more representational control over one's own country, that at least idealistically the ones making the decisions are the ones the people voted for (if you believe that, lol)

I also saw a good bit about British FISHERMEN, whose business was basically fucked after joining the EU because all these new rules and restrictions were put on them, limiting their ability to fish, while allowing foreign companies to come fish their waters. The dude said to leave the EU means regaining control of the waters they've been fishing for generations and business will be better. They said lots of industries are like this, that the EU had miles and miles of red tape and regulations for all kinds of shit that makes business a pain.

Then again that's only one side of it. Its weird that such a complex decision was apparently left to the voters, for how many of us are equipped to understand it all adequately enough to make an educated vote? Really this is high-complex economics etc, who can claim to understand it?

I still wonder if this is some kind of planned maneuver by the elites in some way, it seems way too big to just be something left for the people to decide. Big players obviously involved, why would they leave it up to the whim of an uneducated public?
