Its pretty shitty by traditional Canadian standards. My grandpa bought a lakefront mansion in the city when he was young, adjusted for inflation he paid about 700K dollars. Today 700K will get you a condo if you want to live by the lake in the city. All the while things were changing steadily, but only now do we understand its a problem because it hit the critical mass where young people have to save well into their 30s to afford a small condo.

The whole scope of what was possible when I was younger has changed. It used to be that good jobs were plentiful if you had some skills and a good work ethic. Was possible to raise a family on single income, house affordability was the norm if you could score a good job and manage your money.

Now all of that is upside down, the young people today see their possibilities much more bleak

It didnt happen yet, its on July 1. Yes I plan to go.
The crazy thing is in the 90s in that age where we were so comfortable that we made the movie Fight Club about how our comfortable lives made us feel empty, people were already living in a world much less affordable than their parents. Its a classic example of slowly boiling the frog.

A bounceback will only happen if Pollieve is a crypto-honourable person because I guarantee to get to where he has gotten he has had to make promises to all the wrong people. Maybe even suck some illuminati dong in a Moloch ritual. He will have to betray them for the sake of Canada. On the one hand he has a good record of voting against subversive bills and uses some good dog whistles every now and then, but its hard to be hopeful when it comes to Western politicians from mainstream parties.

I'll take Poilievre over the current Libs all day, but in the end I don't trust him either. He still backs the UN SDG's, carbon tax, and has always been weak/silent/flip-floppy on serious issues like covid passports/segregation, wasteful spending in Ukraine, Gaza, etc.

I honestly don't ever remember worrying about my future as a youth, I always just assumed I could always find work somewhere and build whatever was willing to work for. I would move around and always find an acceptable job somewhere within a week. Rent for a bachelor pad was always affordable even with a simple job. My kids are all spooked out about this stuff. I hope they prove themselves wrong, go out and do it anyway

Btw, the pressure has started to get to Poilievre. 4 days ago he was doing an interview in French(Quebec hates immigration even more than us) and he said he would make immigration "much lower". He wouldnt commit to any figure as he said it would be part of a formula directly related to house affordability. In French and no hard targets is still better than nothing. Looks like he is still trying to win the jeet votes too so isnt speaking about it too much.
