Bloomberg gives $10M to House Democrats’ super PAC

House Majority PAC ended the month with more than $105 million in the bank.

House Democrats’ largest super PAC got a $10 million cash infusion from Michael Bloomberg.

That’s more than half the nearly $20 million House Majority PAC raised in July, according to a campaign finance report it filed Tuesday with the Federal Election Commission. The group ended the month with more than $105 million in the bank.

House Majority PAC President Mike Smith said in a statement that his group “is deeply grateful for the longstanding and continued support from Mayor Mike Bloomberg.”

Bloomberg, a prolific Democratic donor, has given to House Majority PAC in the past. He gave more than $22 million in the 2022 midterms to the group as Democrats sought to protect their House majority. But this is the first time he has done so in 2024. His donations will help boost Democrats in their bid to recapture the majority — especially if he gives more in the final months. (In past cycles, the former New York City mayor has given multiple times to the super PAC.)

In a statement to POLITICO, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries praised Bloomberg as “a trusted and transformational leader who has made New York and our nation a better place.”

Among Bloomberg’s other major donations this cycle: $19 million to Future Forward, the flagship super PAC supporting Vice President Kamala Harris, and $7 million to a super PAC associated with Everytown for Gun Safety, a group he helped found.

Democratic candidates have been massively outraising their GOP counterparts in recent months in both the House and the Senate — a disparity that has grown so large that Republicans have begun to sound the alarm. Democrats have generally been stronger at small-dollar fundraising in recent years, and the GOP relies heavily on super PACs to close the gap.

House Democrats’ campaign arm, which works alongside House Majority PAC, reported raising $17.6 million in July and had nearly $92 million on hand. They outraised the House Republican campaign arm, which brought in $11.7 million and had $73.3 million on hand.
