The Sogdians(east Iranics) live

Many of you have probably heard of the Ossetians, an obscure ethnic minority in Russia that are actually the last tiny remnant of the Scythians/Alans, the East Iranic people who are indigenous to most of Western Russia. Of their eastern cousins the Sogdians who lived on the other side of "The expanse of the Aryans" in central Asia, it was long thought that the Afghans, a southern offshoot of them from the very southernmost part of central Asia which is basically a desert kinda in the Middle East, were the only remnants of them. While the Tajiks are an Iranic people from central Asia proper, they speak a West Iranic language, i.e. their ancestors were from Iran but subsequently migrated back to central Asia. However, today I found out there is a tiny obscure ethnic minority in Tajikistan who are descendants of the original East Iranic people of central Asia, the northeastern missing link between Afghans and Ossetians. Their modern ethnonym is Yaghnobi. They are the descendants of the Sogdians, who dominated the region until they were conquered by the Turkic Khaganate, although their language continued to be used as a lingua franca in the region for a long time.
