I check three forums online regularly and for me each of them has a different purpose. The three sites I check are The OG/UG, EY.com and here. There is a good analogy that I have created (at least I think it's good anyway) for how I treat each site.

The OG/UG is a like a dive bar, you could go in there in semen encrusted underpants and a string vest and no-one would bat an eyelid. When you are there you can say pretty much whatever you want and don't care about the consequences, because you have to say some pretty crazy stuff repeatedly to get booted.

EY.com is like some super expensive wine bar. Everyone is meant to wear a suit and tie, and they're meant to conduct themselves 'correctly' at all times. If you are uncouth and crude you are liable to get kicked out.

Here at Masato's forum it is like a local pub. You can come here in jeans and T-shirt and generally chill out with people. You can get away with more than you would be able to on EY.com, but you can't get away pretty much anything like you can on The OG.

For me at least, each forum has their own function, none are wrong in what they are doing they just serve different purposes. So depending on how I am feeling I will go to the appropriate site.

I had actually started an elaborate photoshop some time ago with the EXACT same idea;

I was going to make a high/wide angle shot of an urban block. OG was gonna be a huge nightclub, EY was the lounge upstairs, and this place was the hotboxed punk digs in the basement (remember this site used to be black). The potential for shoop jokes would have been endless, you could photoshop all kinds of characters and inside jokes EVERYWHERE (Was gonna make cross sections of each place so you could see inside)

So cool you had the same idea.

It would have made a great photoshop, but just too many hours/details to do it right and I tapped out early :)

I've been roaming forums for years, migrating from one to the next as the times change. I hope to bring all the things I liked about different places and avoid the things I didn't like about others. Forums are so great but they are so fragile as well. One or two negative posters and the whole place starts to get shitty. I understand why EY bans some people. He has a flow going, like it or not. If it starts getting derailed by a small % its just not nice imo. Very cool Vutu started his own forum cuz he's got his own vibe too. You don't see feminists crashing it and calling him out on everything (though that would be entertaining as hell, lol)

The overall goal here is to keep it positive. Like you're not wasting your time here, its all upflifting and valuable content and ideas, you should feel a little better when you leave. I really never saw any sense in taking a shit in a place that's supposed to be social and about community. Its a microcosm of how we fit into the bigger world and get along with each other or should get along with each other. Comradery and respect makes everyone stronger imo

Likewise its my humble opinion that its quite silly to be over-confident in one's world view (Political forums). I hate when mofos start insulting each other or claiming absolute certainty to the point of ridicule about differing conspiracy theories, - its ridiculous imo. Neither has any way of knowing for sure, and they are both in fact likely way off from the actual truth. I believe truth-seeking should be one of humility and learning, not of arrogance and certainty. We are all trying to learn, we all have our own illusions, and I believe we should help each other expand our consciousness by trying to understand together, and not compete or argue. I hope the Rebel Alliance can keep this attitude in mind, and if you ever see me talkin' like I have all the answers I want you to fuckin slap me lol. Real truth seeking puts the ego at rest imo. We don't know shit, really lol

I'm also really tripping on creativity lately... I am opening to this new kind of philosophy where creative energy suddenly takes on a whole new meaning in the human condition, and how under-valued it is in western culture. Its fucking GOOD for you, and creates all kinds of positive ripples in the universe. It brings people together, it gives others new ideas, it brings our own ideas into focus, and allows us to physically change the world around us. Its amazing really, or at least I trip out on it. I'm just pondering this stuff now and I'm almost 40, but I feel like I need to promote this right now. I think the creative action in the activist culture is terrifyingly absent. Get the artists involved, and shit will about to get realz !

Anyways thanks to all who keep this place going, thanks especially to the ones who kept it alive when were on the brink of death (Edge I'm lookin at you baby ;) #1 poster of the year for sure, lol) and those who are understanding what its all about (where the fuck is Enock?). Lets try to make it something positive for everyone
