Sundays/Sabbath etc

Postby Masato » Mon Jul 27, 2015 9:23 am

Hey all

What do you think about the idea of deliberately and consciously setting aside (at least) 1 day a week for rest?

I haven't really done this ever, aside from when I was a young lad and my mother would take me to church. Even then, after it was done there was no tradition to keep the rest of the day any different than another.

My wife has been working tons lately ( viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1084&hilit=Mrs%20Masato ), and my schedule is always crazy...

so this past weekend we decided to make the Sunday absolutely a day of rest and family.

And let me tell you it was glorious.

Slept in LATE, make pancakes with the kids, hit the bong, went for a long walk in the woods with the dog and family, swam in a pool, ate BBQ and delicious food, hit the bong again, layed in the sun, and just TOOK THE FUCKING DAY OFF.
Grabbed some take-out sushi 4 dinner, left the dishes till the morning. Wife passed out before I could nab teh sex, but I suppose I shouldn't get greedy, lol

I could get used to this.

Not just from a lazy/pleasure point of view, but from a more spiritual aspect as well. It is so EASY for life to just keep rambling on... always something to do, always an excuse to work. But to what end? Do we run ceaselessly just to wait for vacation? Is 1 day a week too much to ask?

What are the health benefits from setting aside such a day, and taking it seriously to STOP WORKING, and consciously spend time appreciating life and giving thanks?

I suspect it would be very healthy.

Then again if you have no job/kids/wife, or are like Som-Pong:

Monday is my favorite time of year

I'm gonna tell you what I really think
I like about Mondays
'Cause they feel like Saturdays
When you don't got to go to work
Every day is a holiday

I wake up when I want to
I do anything I wanna do
Can't wait for Tuesday

I really never liked Fridays
I can't do what I wanna do
Sold out at the movies
Can't eat at the restaurants

Everybody want a good time
But the bar's full of cigarette smoke
I think I'll stay home
I think I'll wait for Monday

I live a five day weekend
I gotta year long holiday
Thank God it's Monday

The only place that I gotta go be
Is at the show or on the first tee
Thank God for irony

Never mind the aggravation
Modulation
Gimme another key

I'll tell you why I like Tuesdays, Wednesday
'Cause they're kinda like Christmas, New Years
Come to think about Wednesdays, Thursday
Are a little like Hanukkah, every day is good

Thursday's thanksgiving
I'm talking about good living
I'll think I give thanks
Thank God it's Monday

Thank God it's Monday
Thank God it's Monday
Thank God it's Monday
Thank God it's Monday
Thank God it's Monday
Thank God it's Monday

Hey man, wish I had some work right about now. Running a credit at the Yaa Dong bar, but getting more for free than I pay for. My day today went a bit like; wake up at 1500 hours, smoked a few joints and watched like 5 South Park episodes. Then at 1830 went for drinks, my mates bought food for us and one of them apologized for accidentally hitting my hand with some shards during Saturdays fight. Now I am home again and watching The Town for the 10th fucking time, smoking a joint and have a spare bottle of YD left. Gonna sleep soon. Wish I had some extra work though, unless I am fucked tmw I am gonna go read Khun Chang Khun Phaen at a bookshop that don't mind me sitting there.
Sometimes I miss hustling coke back home.

- It's important to get a day to rest and forget work rotine, but some people can't doo that.
You know, like if they miss a day of work, they get lazy and will miss a week so they try to keep a strict routine all aroud.
- I rent this space for advertising

Don't be selfish, preserve this world for the next generations.

I'll never long for what might have been
Regret won't waste my life again
I won't look back I'll fight to remain

Tuned in for a bit and asked the gods what they thought about it. They said yeah, they love it. And they get a whole month off of god...ing on October. In Shintoism, the month is called "The Month of No Gods", where they all take a break and blow off some steam.

Maybe that's why Halloween is so spooky.
