I've been looking at that Get Windows 10 icon for weeks. I might just click it.

It's pretty snappy, but change all of the settings to off for the privacy stuff.

Good luck finding them all though. They're everywhere!

Good thread. Sometimes simple topics turn open up good stuff.

Winnson knows how to do it.

Win10 is only free for upgrade from a legit 7 or 8, and only for the next six months.

Businesses will still be using 7 as the free-upgrade period expires. Most probably won't switch until they start buying Computers with OEM Win10 pre-loaded, which Microsoft will definitely be making billions off of.

With a full auto install, you agree to give Microsoft complete access to all your files, all of your emails, all of your keystrokes, complete access to your camera and microphone, every message you have ever sent, everything. They can do whatever they want with it, store it, and farm it out to anyone they would like.

Windows 10 is basically a big fuck you to personal privacy, openly.

It's all the same now, but this is the time line from the Snowden documents.

FYI I still can't use Windows 8. Win10 is basically Win7 but with some of the improvements of Win8. Taskbar, Control Panel, User Switching. It jams all of the social-media BS from Win8 into the Start Menu:

Another big thing is they re-branded Internet Explorer to 'Edge'. I'm sure some executive was telling the marketing people "We need to improve the reputation of Internet Explorer" and they said "I'm sorry Sir, but that is impossible." So they decided to rename it something really 'edgy'. Updating Explorer was necessary for the super-average user who is just going to use the default software for everything, but I think this push was more about pulling more users from Yahoo and Google and getting them to use msn.com and Bing.

They've also added a Microsoft store like Apple, Google have. They probably HAD to release 10 for Free to keep up with Android and iOS monetezation features.
