blown out of proportion in the media & places like emily.com.

what's not justified? my fear?

You are probably right. Its not just the racism though, the whole government/politics/policing etc right freaks me out. Its like the place is gonna burn any day now, lol going into the belly of the beast.

I should break this fear though 1 day... no doubt there is some beautiful country there and many many great people too

we have some top friends in Florida (yikes!) and Cali
Plus I'd like to maybe snowboard in Colorado or Montana or something 1 day

You've tried Freeman talk in court?? wow

^^^^ no, my bad. I've been hit with driving under suspension or no license many times

not sure I have the balls to try the 'freeman' route. but I am equally fascinated by it.

that makes more sense about the penalty. been there too.

yeah, the fear. was mostly talking about the militant PC atmosphere or racism you were describing. it's not that bad. most politicians avoid this issue, while the media tries to exploit it. which then forces the politicians to talk about it, the media to then cover it, etc. it's perpetuating cycle of racial tension & constantly in your face. probably why it seems the way it does. the majority of people see the charade or don't give two shits. of course, there are extremes in every camp & their numbers are growing due to media manipulation imho. that concerns me. the root of all evil.

which brings me to my next point, I can't defend the govt or media. it is shit. still on the fence about policing. blown out of proportion, but definitely a lot more heavy handed than what I'd like to see. again, all lead back to media. both MSM & alternative. I'm almost @ the point of avoiding both. going off grid looks better everyday, but I'm happy here.

invasion of privacy concerns me the most, but (imo) we'd be naive to think that's not a problem almost anywhere.

as for visiting, colorado dude. definitely.

Im not talking about the people, people are just people, I dont hate North Koreans either Im talking about your justice system, your politics IE "The black vote" "white vote" and "Hispanic" vote, the gap between your rich and poor, your healthcare system, military spending, all the fat cunts you have over there etc etc

Maybe its the spliff I just had down at the river but it kinda hit me how much we all LOL @ that shit.

Do you know what would happen to a politician or social commentator in Australia or NEW Zealand started dividing the voters into ethnic clusters??? it would be...GAME OVER!

Do you guys even ave an upper working to lower middle class in States like California anymore?

thanks for saying this

I am terrified of going to the states tbh, and often wonder how justified this fear is. It seems crazy, but then again so does american culture, lol

In canada its the same as what Vutu describes from Aus; if ANYONE starts talking race they're basically doomed.

My wife (from Brasil) keeps commenting again and again how much she digs the multiculturalism here. Just last weekend we went to this beach town with a park - FULL of families and people from all over the world. People speaking different languages left and right... different foods and smells and music and a rainbow of skin tones.

AND NOBODY GAVE A FUCK. Everyone waiting in line for ice cream, sharing the space, everyone is COOL here, its simply not even an issue. If they say that racism is taught, I find it interesting that my kids are growing up in a place where it basically doesn't exist.

Another reason why I don't wanna go to the states, lol

Some friends of ours recently moved to california and that's the first thing they said; that the racial segregation is palpable

wtf

Im glad your wife likes it Brazil is one of the most racist countries on earth.

Great people once you get them out of Brazil tho.

Also all the cop shootings over nothing. Is that overblown? I have to keep reminding myself that theres 300mio of you vs 25mio of us so maybe you're right could be Emily and co hyping shit up.

not really imo, but I'm generally an accepting guy & prob hang around the same. it's a big deal mostly in the deep southern necks or with the nursing home generation. If I had to take a guess, maybe 80/20 accepting/bigoted. from my personal experience anyway & I moved around a lot. lived both rich & poor. it's usually the 20 that is more vocal though.

good point. overblown (imo), but definitely a cause for concern. not really sure what to think about that one. some of these cases were justified & the media rarely mentions that, but some clearly were not. it really does seem like nothing but a bunch of timid cops with quick trigger fingers lately, but there is also a quiet war on cops going on @ the same time.

I don't understand what they have against tasering a motherfucker though.

with that said, emily & co. were definitely hyping shit up. but that was usually because he was making up ridiculous statistics until ben called him out on it or making a new thread everyday because prison planet reported something new. it's not like someone has to fear for their life while visiting, but It would prob be best to not try & piss people off. but I generally feel that way wherever I go.

Would you say the situation is worse now than say, the 90s? Or is it just that social media these days brings it to light more often? I used to visit Detroit, Cleveland, and Philly quite a bit in the 90s - early 2000s. And often travelling with what Som Pong coins "blackies". But never once felt threatened by cops or "orcs". Even though one time when we went clubbing in Detroit, the music came to a screeching halt when we entered through the doors. Well, not really, but it felt that way as every head turned and they had that "what dis gook doing here" look.

if you would have asked me a couple years ago I would have said better. maybe a lot better. now? not so much.

I've had a few of those same moments. lol. walking in to a hotel party, maybe the 1-2 only white guys there. it was all good more times than not. usually made a few friends. never felt threatened, but I'm comfortable almost anywhere. I'm not sure it would end like that now. back in the day, you were jumped for being an asshole. lately, with shit like the KO game among others, it's mostly based on race.

I think the cop situation is worse in general, but better for me. I try not to piss them off like I used to ;)

Has anyone wondered if we are being deliberately set into this current societal fear state much like the people of the 50's were in constant fear of the bomb?

Seems like the same playbook to me. Think I'm done playing this fear game tho.
People say they all want the truth, but when they are confronted with a truth that disagrees with them, they balk at it as if it were an unwanted zombie apocalypse come to destroy civilization.
