An explosion at a steel factory in mainland China's northern Liaoning province took place less than 24 hours after the deadly blast at Tianjin port. Nobody was hurt in the latest explosion, which occurred on Thursday evening.

The blast took place around 9.45pm at a privately-run small steel factory on the western outskirts of Anshan city, China National Radio reported on its Weibo account.

Photos circulating on social media showed bright flames sending thick smoke into the air.

The report said the blast was caused by 'leaked liquid'.

Workers at the factory had put out the fire by the time firefighters arrived, the report said.

This showcases the superiority of the Chinese worker over his Western counterpart, your typical American would just wait for the fire department and waste your tax dollars. This is just one of many reasons why Asians are better.

Pollution Fears Grow in China's Tianjin in Wake of Massive Explosions
http://www.rfa.org/english/news/china/pollution-08142015134141.html

Wednesday night's blast came after firefighters were called to a container wharf owned by Ruihai Logistics that was storing ammonium nitrate, potassium nitrate and calcium carbide at the time, after several containers had caught fire, police statements and official media reported.

Experts have speculated that the blasts may have been triggered when water was hosed on calcium carbide by firefighters.

The warehouse, designed to house dangerous and toxic chemicals, was storing mainly ammonium nitrate, potassium nitrate and calcium carbide at the time of the blasts, according to police. The official Xinhua news agency has said several containers in the warehouse caught fire before the explosions.

Chemical safety experts said calcium carbide reacts with water to create acetylene, a highly explosive gas. An explosion could be caused if fire fighters sprayed the calcium carbide with water, they said.

"Ruihai Logistics that was storing ammonium nitrate, potassium nitrate and calcium carbide at the time, after several containers had caught fire, "

By "containers" they probably mean rice sacks.

That shit needs to be in a bunded area that is at least 4 hour fire resistant and separated.

Vutu, you are underestimating the ingenuity of the Chinese people. China is the worlds most populous country this highlights the FACT that they are more evolved than the rest of us. It simply a truth us White men and Melanesians have to face, I realize that this is tough for you but the only way we can get past our inferiority to the Chinese is to start by accepting it. You are very lucky to have half-east-Asian children, maybe if they can also procreate with East-Asians your gene pool will be even stronger.
I am sure that proper safety precautions were taken as the Chinese are known for diligence, precision and discipline. In short, don't be a jelly monster.

He Xiaoxin: How Far Can I Go? And How Much Can I Do?

Journalist He Xiaoxin (和小欣) of The Beijing Daily (北京日报) traveled to report from the scene of the massive explosion in a chemical warehouse at the Tianjin port, in which 112 people have been reported killed so far. Dramatic photos and videos of the explosion traveled quickly around the world via the Internet. But in this photo essay, He provides an up-close, personal look at the devastation. Propaganda officials have since banned media from reporting on the explosion or posting stories that did not originate from Xinhua.

no theory edge. not even sure what the official one is. gas station? nope. fire in chemcial warehouse? only if they were illegally storing a shit ton of hazardous chemicals in the most idiotic of ways. but IIRC, there is no toxic air threat according to the PRC so that can't be it. shipment of explosives next to a hazardous chemical plant? ok. still no reason given for what started the initial fires in the first place.

rumor is that the first responders (RIP) goofed by using water to put out the initial fire(s) & it caused bad reaction with one of the chemicals & that caused what we saw. whatever it was, that was a pretty incredible blast & one helluva crater left behind. death toll is obviously bullshit, but I'll give them a pass because it's gonna take some time.
