So a good friend came to visit last week who does at least 1 original artwork EVERY DAY (both digital and traditional).
He's been doing this for YEARS and is so badass I can't even tell you. He says skill comes only with VOLUME. Just sheer volume.
I realized I have wasted the past 15 years in this sense since graduating from animation skill, and feeling humbled.
Trying to set aside at least 1 hour every day to just explore, play, study, practice. Curious to see the rate of progression.
He showed me this cool way to split my ipad screen with reference on one side and drawing app on the other, it opened up a whole new world as I have not previously used my ipad much.
So I will be continuing to archive stuff here that I like and want to copy/study. I am pumped up but also a bit depressed realizing my skills are way lower than I thought they were, or where I would like them to be
Many of these are from an artist who names herself SirPangur, who I have been trying to coax an interview with but no luck yet Her work is blowing my mind and I hope to be able to develop a style maybe not so far removed 1 day
Anyways here is some more stuff;
Inspiration Dump
Here are some samples by that friend I was mentioning... his artist name is FINALLI
He is the most diverse artist I have ever seen, I find it incredible how easily he morphs from style to style... you'd think these were all done by different artists but they are not, this is 1 guy... and one of my favorite friends IRL
Amazing, amazing work. Remember, his secret recipe for his skills is VOLUME!!!!! He has hundreds of these, I only grabbed a few randomly.

This guy is amazing
People say they all want the truth, but when they are confronted with a truth that disagrees with them, they balk at it as if it were an unwanted zombie apocalypse come to destroy civilization.
I like this guy's style, gonna study/copy these for a while.
Its interesting, I had to force myself to adopt a certain style 15 years ago to earn an income, and never developed my own style on the side. Now I am realizing while I am a capable drawer, I have no style of my own! lol
Realizing this & trying to figure out which direction I want to develop personally as an artist has been kind of freaky, lol
I think I would like to develop my skills towards being able to draw really cool looking comics, its what I always admired artistically and I can also use it to tell my stories

Holy shit, I just discovered this guy names Denis Bodart
I absolutely love his work. As I said I am coming to the realization that I want to start developing my OWN artwork, not just the shit I've trained myself to do for my job. I want to learn what my own style is, how I like to draw etc. So I've been looking tons at other artists (something I bizarrely did not do for like 20 years), and just watching myself which ones I gravitate to, which ones I admire or would like to draw in a similar way. For sure I keep coming back to well-drawn comic book art. Great inks, great anatomy, lighting composition etc always on par, etc For me, illustrations are more of a tool for bigger ideas than an end in themselves.
Anyways this guy is fucking amazing.
There is a great interview in the SPOILER here too, where he talks about finding your OWN way, your own path. 'To each his own. That is what it's all about.' Guy is smart.
Anyways here are some random samples:
website (he has a crappy website, lol it totally doesn't function well but his art makes up for it:
