goin back to BC
Re: Folks doin' rough
Sorry to hear your parents are going through a rough time. I am very thankful that my when my Dad passed he still had his full independence. It would have been far worse to see him have to be in a care home or something like that. So my thoughts truly are with you and your family.

i can't really imagine being in your place.
i guess the silver lining to my childhood suffering caused by my parents is that i no longer have to go through the grief of losing them later.
dad is on his deathbed. never saw him once. at complete peace with myself now. what a demon he was.

Thanks guys. Good to hear from you again Ben
Condolences for your childhood Don, that’s tough
Interesting thought that good parents = harder grieving when they go, and the reverse.
In s similar light, I am thinking that this experience is so tough on my dad, that when she finally goes in some ways it might be partially a relief for him. Perhaps easier than if she were to die suddenly for example. Lots of deep thoughts, lol

At the airport now coming back.
My brother forgot to bring me some weed for the trip lol I was looking forward to having a spliff for the layover in Vancouver.
Mom will be frozen in a matter of weeks. Met a woman who’s husband died of ALS, she told how she cared for him for 6 months after he could not move or speak anymore. Heavy shit man. Keep in mind her mental faculties are completely unaffected, she is lucid through this whole thing.
It will be a big challenge for her because she is still kind of a control freak, even now she still feels the need to have things done her way, directing us etc. She will have to let all of that go soon. A great lesson imo, I had it explained to me from someone here that through the eyes of Buddhism, control freaks/OCD are so because of a fear of not being in control, inability to face the chaos of reality, and ultimately that we can’t control our own mortality. Embracing this chaos and letting go of the illusion of control I think is a great thing we can learn, don’t wait until we are forced to learn it, start practising early
Dad’s a trooper but it’s far more work than I could have ever guessed, the days are absolutely occupied from start to finish, almost no time to even reflect and think about wtf is happening.
Likely will have to come back soon, I personally doubt she will last more than a few more months.

Really tough thing you're going through friend. Best of luck with this.

One thing that I've been impressed with is how much free help they are getting as taxpayers.
I bitch a lot sometimes about taxes here in Canada, as they are very high and the government is pretty ruthless when it comes to making sure they squeeze every penny from you. I empathize sometimes with the 'taxation is theft' movement...
On the other hand, my folks are getting lots of free nursing, and they just basically tripled the help because her needs are increasing, at no extra cost. They have also received free equipment from the ALS Society, hydraulic lifts and wheelchairs etc for FREE. People to come in to train them, check on them, assess their needs regularly and adjust nursing accordingly.
Of course you could complain that this is socialism, and using others' hard-earned money for it... but I try to imagine how anyone not wealthy would deal with an ALS patient in the family without such subsidized help. Fucking impossible.
Oh Canada

Thats nice to hear. I have a friend here in HK who's ancient boss is an Australian citizen but he refuses to permanently move to Oz cuz he says healthcare there would not treat the elderly if they are diagnosed with a terminal illness. I have no idea if that's true. maybe it's just for old ass gooks. maybe Vutu can confirm.
Anyways, best of luck to you and your fam.

- Its better money invested on people health than being give alway to some douchbag artist! (WE have a law here, where enterprises invest theirmoney onartistis and gets discouted of the tax pay. The problem only go to already rich ones)
Isnt free. People are paying for it! I dont see nothing worng with that. Like you said several people cant pay for that. Its far better investiment.
We arent going to spend much time in this planet. Sou why not make the stady better for other people? Its the governament job to take care of thepeople. Or why wee would need them?
