EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!! (lego movie)

Postby Daglord » Fri Jul 25, 2014 3:01 pm

yo masato..

not long ago, I remember your thread asking for movies to watch w/your kids. I watched 'the lego movie' the other night. have you seen it?

very enjoyable & (imo) this could almost be an anti-establishment movie. a childish version of 1984 & refreshing in the face of the stuff disney has been rolling out lately. the entire movie could be an allegory to our society today.

the beginning has a very orwellian feel to it... in an appropriate way for a family feature of course.

villian's name was 'president business'. lol. so fitting.

constant surveillance. 'big brother' everywhere.

conformity was considered the key to a successful society & independent, free thought was considered bad/dangerous.

programming through radio/television to dumb down the population & keep them docile.

pleasing the masses w/handouts (taco tuesday, lol), while using them as a cover for something far more sinister.

anyway... just a few^ observations. anything more might spoil it.

regardless, even if I'm reading too much into it, it is a GREAT move for adults & children alike. i highly recommend it for the family. all star voice cast as well. and batman.

Awesome.

I love lego and the douche Batman is the best character of the movie.
The lego video-games are very good too.

Sad thing it's that Legos are very expensive here, so if you want a cool lego siting on your table for you to play whem nobody is looking aroud, it's gonna cost a good money.:(

- Batman works, because the Batman is originaly a arrogant character, so they don't need to change him very much.
Another cool character that would work on Lego cartoons is Spiderman.

Darkness! No Parents! LEGO Batman Is Getting A Spin-Off Movie, And Soon.

If you thought Will Arnett’s sarcastic, self-important, Bale-parodying LEGO Batman was the highlight of The Lego Movie, you’re not alone. (But he’s alone. NO PARENTS.) Warner is now fast-tracking a LEGO Batman spin-off movie, with Arnett returning, and they plan to release it in 2017 before The LEGO Movie 2. THR says The LEGO Movie sequel is being pushed back, as director Chris McKay will now helm LEGO Batman. Seth Grahame-Smith, who wrote the book Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and we’ll never let him live that down, will pen the script.

LEGO Batman will likely take the May 26, 2017 release date formerly occupied by The LEGO Movie 2. He’ll still be all “darkness” and “no parents”, but at least he has his own movie. Kinda makes it better…

weird, my wife fell asleep in the theatre to this as well.

I on the other hand couldn't believe at times the messages that were being conveyed,

hard to say what side of the fence they were being directed. but i guess if your'e smart enough you can direct them yourself.
People say they all want the truth, but when they are confronted with a truth that disagrees with them, they balk at it as if it were an unwanted zombie apocalypse come to destroy civilization.
