Anyone else ever play a Turbografx 16?

The turbografx 16 was a video game console that was a competitor to the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis. It failed in comparison to the others because it was only 1 player unless you bought a special adapter cord. Recently I downloaded an emulator for the system and I have been loving the games. They can even compete with the best of snes and genesis.

Yes, I agree, the tg-16 was equal if not better than its rivals, just not enough marketing behind it.

The street fighter II version is considered the finest of the console ports of the tiime.

Yup, they even had the pirate version "strip fighter" that was pretty funny.

Here Snes was the most popular console, and dominated the mega drive, like Shawn Michaels dominated Wrestlemania.

I remember people here, talking about a console called Dolphin, they ever had this console?

They are Gamecube developer equipment. Dolphin was the code name for the system.. All teh console part numbers contain "DOL". Anyway, very interesting Looks like those hard drive looking things might be developer DISKS! The bottom picture looks more like the console, with the controller ports, etc.. I say those are disks, because of hte drive on the front of the developer console, could be wrong..

COOL! depending on price, I'd buy them just to fiddle and take apart.. lol.

I never cease to be amazed that in my tiny blip of a lifetime when compared to all of human technological growth, that I witnessed the birth of video games.

I literally played PONG in its day. I remember seeing the entire evolution of the industry happen in real time, and I was the exact prime demographic the whole way through. I had a Commodore Vic 20, played Atari, intellivision, etc etc. I remember the first arcades, and how much better they were than home systems (Pole Position, QBert, Punch Out, etc). When Nintendo came out it blew my mind, I KNEW it would be the start of something amazing. Saw the Mortal Kombat/Street Fighter hypes, and the birth of new system giants like Sony etc. Now I am out of the scene for many years (don't play) but am totally astounded by the level of graphics etc. So weird how I was equally as impressed at every other stage along the way, lol

I feel the same way about MMA. - I got to see it happen. I was there.

Edge: I have never seen a physical version of that but Dolphin is the name used for GC emulators.

Masato: I got most of the experience but missed the pong/Atari age. I also skipped a step in the early 90s when my dad bought us a powerful PC that could play playstation level games like Tomb Raider while the SNES and other 16 bit consoles were just coming out.

Technically speaking the first video game was a version of tick-tack-toe where a guy in the 1952 hooked up a rotary phone to a computer and each number(1-9) corresponded to a space on the screen where the x or o would go. That guy had no idea what he had started.
