Hey all
Took me a bit to warm up, but I am right on this McGregor kid's bandwagon.
IMO he is not just talking smack to promote himself like a Chael Sonnen, nor does he come off insincere/fake like a Jon Jones... - he seems to really BELIEVE and FEEL it.
After UFC 178, in which he PICKED THE ROUND he would win... I listened to the whole press conference and was really impressed;
He does NOT trash or belittle his opponents - he offers them all respect, he just talks about himself.
He does NOT build himself up to be unbeatable - he spoke frequently of how he hopes to handle losses and speaks frankly about the likelihood of losing
He is NOT negative, crude, or hateful in his talk - always seems positive, humourous, uplifting
He is NOT arrogant in his fighting skills - says the real martial artist is one who never stops learning and improving, and criticizes fighters (even great ones) for being satisfied with their level and training for 'maintenance' rather than improvement.
IMO, at least at this point, he has that strange magic that appears from time to time in fighting... like Muhammed Ali, he seems to have that special something extra that completes a fighter.
All and all I have suddenly become really impressed with his character. Lets hope he can keep it together to stand the test of time, win or lose.
ON the McGregor Bandwagon
@ 29:16 of the documentary (top vid) is really weird
Listen to his words before he was even in the UFC:
People like this fascinate me. They KNOW who they are and where they are going. I believe in some way, these kind of people have actually seen the future, and are just telling us as though it was fact. It IS fact to them.
Personally, I feel as though my life is a constant evolution, always changing... sometimes I can see glimpses on the horizon but most of the time each corner I turn is a mystery. I like this very much, but I have often wondered what it would feel like for those people who KNOW so clearly from a young age exactly what they want to do no questions asked, and a clear plan to get there and they do it.
I especially wonder what these kind of people think of later in life, when they are old and look back on what a strange and amazing life. What does it mean to them in the end? What lessons can only they know from it? Why was it so?
People of DESTINY, yo

Wow, in his early fights he looks like a young Wanderlei Silva
No flash, no beard, just ruthlessness
Watch how the ref needs to tell him to shut up when he's giving them the rules, lol
Also watch him jump the cage at the end and rush the crowd - was that before Aldo did it?
Exciting fight

Smallest pro cage I've ever seen?
