Another win in a bench session tonight. I rested a bit longer than I would have liked, but otherwise it was good. Next time Ill be moving up in weight.

Found this cool article about Tom Platz I thought you guys might like, guy could squat 225 for over 100 reps and 315 for 50 reps: https://barbend.com/how-strong-was-tom-platz/

Friend of mine just started this youtube channel. He's a former power lifter and pro wrestler. Became obese and now working to get it back at 50. Thought this might interest some of you MFs.

Tom Platz was strong AF, it amazes me that people think high level body builders arent strong. The mofos are strong AF, they may not have 1RMs close to high level PLers

On a side note there are a few younger guys at my gym who lift light and not very high volume and are jacked AF. That was me to an extent 20 years ago, did anything and a few days later I was bigger. Ate like shit, slept okay, trained like a tard cause no internet to learn from and could get jacked now its a grind. Easier to bulk though for sure lol

Bodybuilders have upper body strength very comparable to strength athletes, they only lag behind in the lifts that demand lower body strength as well.

BB style trianing is fun especially doing arms. Get in get a sick pump and you dont feel like dying after like PL training will continue to do both

Did a big squat session last night. It was 9 days after my last session but Im starting to think these long breaks are a net positive because I totally smashed it with ease. By the end of the session the soreness was real, which is a bit unusual because normally the soreness starts the next day. My left glute felt like it was on fire, doesnt feel as bad today. Tendons feel fine though, which I think is the result of the long break. Regardless, next session will be a deload day.

Tom Platz held a record on 500lbs for 23 reps, which stood for decades. Only recently was it beat by world strongest man winner.

Many bodybuilders are insanely strong. Just that they can't be gifted in everything. It is like an Olympic gold wrestler also being an Olympic medallist gymnast. There are probably a lot who did both and did well in both but having top tier genetics for both is too improbable. Being top tier strength also demands that you are gifted with very resilient joints and a favourable ratio of fast twitch muscle fibers. So it wouldn't make sense in a statistical perspective that a top tier bodybuilder happened to be a top tier strength athlete, talent wise, not even considering training for both means you won't train as good as if you only trained for one.
