It was the last class, the coach closed it after that lol. He is spooked, he didn't roll with anyone.

My wife's business also has lots of classes, she is keeping them going with mixed reactions, some thankful, others not. We'll see in the end how many don't show. I leave here in about 30 minutes to teach my drawing class, we'll see who shows up. I emailed everyone saying if you/your family are in good health that they are welcome to come.

BTW, my dad lives on the Island not far from you and says the reaction is almost non-existent there, life is going on normally. What do you see in Horseshoe Bay/Vancouver?

Well it's pretty normal here too Mas....if you don't need toilet paper! It's panic city for that stuff ffs.

I just think grappling in the worst pandemic since the 1918 Spanish Flu outbreak is kind of risky I guess, that's why I piped up. I had the Swine Flu in '09 and I don't want to get this thing myself, I'll give this one a pass.

Are the ferries still running?

Yeah, everything is still pretty much business as usual coast to coast in Canada as far as I know. Except for the hoarding of toilet paper, surgical masks and hand sanitizer. That's new. We're still very much locked into a Trudeauian 'wot, me worry?' phase.

And speaking of Trudeau, the health and safety of Canadians is well down near the bottom of Trudeau's list of priorities if it's on the list at all I'm afraid. Our appearing to be 'open' and 'compassionate' for his European socialite friends trumps any concern he may have about the effects of this virus on average Canadians I believe. See, the thing is, average Canadians are really an abstract concept for Trudeau, he doesn't really know any so he's the ideal face for carrying out sinister globalist agendas against the vulnerable and duped Canadian population.Makes it easy to allow unlimited flights in and out of the country to anywhere in the world including coronavirus hotspots like China, Iran and Italy. If we all dropped dead he might consider that an unfortunate outcome. And he might not. Or more likely, he might just jet to Monte Carlo and immerse himself in gay orgies and not really think about it at all.

Sorry, got a little sidetracked on Trudeau again there. It happens. Anyway, about the jiu jitsu classes. Wrestling in sweaty pajamas in the early stages of a pandemic is one thing, but if you really want to test your anti viral game at another level you could always head out to the airport there in Toronto and greet folks flying in from viral hot spots like Wuhan and Tehran. You know, shake their hands firmly, maybe offer to carry some luggage. ;)

It’s not ‘business as usual’ out here in Ontario. EVERYTHING is shutting down here, cancelling. You name it, it’s getting cancelled. Kids sports classes, all schools, community centres, art schools, theatres, whole broadway shows have shut down etc etc etc. Anything government funded is down, museum art gallery etc. It’s happening exponentially now I think everyone feels the social pressure to follow suit and cancel. I think it’s hit the point now where mob mentality has tipped and nobody wants to stand out so they follow the herd. Yet they all feel ok to line up at Costco with 1000 people for 3 hours lol

I know a bunch of people first or second hand that have lost their jobs because of all this, I bet tons of businesses are hurting bad.

The cure is causing more damage than the disease

Sure, that's happening here too. All of the sports leagues have cancelled now except money grubbing UFC.

The big 420 pot festival was cancelled this week.

In BC? Holy shit that’s serious then! Lol

What do you think is worse? Risking the flu, or being out of work/losing your job or your business going under?

Wife is running a March break camp, apparently lots of working parents had activities planned for their kids and now have nowhere to put them for the week.

Interesting pick of poison

Geez. I can't answer that Masato.

I'm reading that this TP hoarding is copycat stuff that started in Australia where they did have a shortage because they get it from China and the story went viral and people in North America just went bananas for no reason.

The other question is what happens if everyone follows suit and self-quarantines? Stores being out of TP is one thing, but if all the store workers refuse to come to work, you can’t even go to the store even if they have TP. If everyone stays home maybe the virus will stop faster but it will fuck up a lot before the government/WHO gives us permission to go outside again

Tough balance where to draw the line. I will be thankful when I need to go out to buy stuff I need that the store will be open and someone showed up to sell it to me.

I will post on the wife’s March break camp, how many cancel vs attend. She is keeping it open/offering a choice as some parents need it. Offering credit or refunds for those who choose not to come. Will be interesting to see the response.

All seems overboard to me personally. Frightening to speculate how our culture will react if anything more serious were ever to happen.

I'm guessing public transit gets shut down pretty soon. Bus and subway unions are going to freak if anyone gets sick, or even as the infected numbers increase locally.

I am wondering how many of these closures/cancellations are really about safety, vs how much is done because of potential liability/legal fears. Regardless, do as you're told I guess.

It sets a huge precedent imo, every time governments choose to declare an emergency the whole world shuts down and self-isolates. Seems a pretty powerful weapon to wield imo, you can stop almost any industry, and/or starve out any country economically at will, fuck up entire economies, sending thousands of people into unemployment and bankruptcy etc, and the people will support it.

You won’t even need a real virus anymore lol just have some rumors from high places and insert an msm blast and you can do whatever you want, isolate and quarantine and medical martial law anywhere in the world

MSM can apologize later for the errors lol
